Job: Banquet Houseperson

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Banquet Supervisor, responsible for the set-up, service of,
and the strike (clean up) of all events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Performs cash register duties as needed.
• Assists Banquet Servers as directed by Banquet Supervisor.
• Performs all related duties that include but are not limited to moving of tables, chairs, stages, serving guest requests as needed.
• Sets up tables, chairs, stages, buffet lines in accordance with layouts provided by the Banquet Supervisor, or the Banquet Manager.
• Delivers and retrieves all banquet equipment from main kitchen and stores appropriately.
• Sets all tables consistently according to the format provided.
• Clears all tables and buffet areas following standards set by Banquet Manager.
• Responsible for stocking the wait station with linen, silver, glassware, candles, and any other supplies needed for service.
• Maintains good communication with co-workers and maintains a positive and professional work environment.
• Maintains proper organization and cleanliness of storage and staging areas.
• Keeps floors and work areas clean.
• Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED plus one year related experience; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers card. Must be 18 years of age. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.

• Knowledge of dining and food maintenance operations and customer service.
• Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in basic English.

• Ability to work in hazardous work conditions, where there are extreme temperatures, slips and falls on wet or slippery floors, cuts, or burns, normally associated with kitchen work.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift up to 50lbs.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in kitchen areas, outside areas and banquet areas with exposure to heat, cold, fumes and steam and Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Evening and/or weekend, holiday work will be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts will be required.
