Intermountain Centers for Human Development is a private, not-for-profit service organization, which provides residential, home-based and support services to a variety of clinical populations. Intermountain programs are designed to develop interpersonal and social skills, self-sufficiency and self-management skills, academic and vocational skills, community awareness and responsibility, and constructive future planning.

We are currently recruiting for a Part-Time (20 hr./wk.) Respite Worker, to provide education, group facilitation, respite services and support to youth and young adults enrolled in Intermountain's Transitional and Support Services programs. Work hours are great for grad. students wanting experience in the behavioral health field. Shifts are on Saturday and Sunday, plus a flexible 4 hour requirement during the week.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides direct care and supervision of clients in the respite program.
• Provides meaningful teaching opportunities and experiences in all program areas to include: academic/vocational, community, social, self-care, and recreation.
• Implements formal training programs and initiates incidental teaching opportunities.
• Implements, enforces, and documents behavioral contingencies to clients
• Assists in the development of daily lesson plans and activity plans for clients who are participating in group and respite activities.
• Develops and maintains professional relationships with families, caseworkers, referring workers, employers, families, and any other workers deemed necessary.
• Ensures continuity of client’s program through program data sheets, attendance sheets, medication administration records, community outing sheets, incident reports, unusual incident reports and other forms of documentation deemed necessary.
• Attends to client’s physical and/or self-care needs.
• Transports clients to and from community outings and any other activities deemed appropriate.
• Provides adequate supervision for the clients in the respite setting and in the community to include rendering emergency aid when necessary.
• Becomes familiar with the social, vocational and medical histories documented in each client’s file.
• Maintains daily physical condition of agency vehicles.
• Keeps necessary ICHD staff informed of all developments.
• Attends and participates in treatment meetings, staff meetings, staff trainings, workshops and in-service trainings.
• Maintains approved work schedule and acceptable level of attendance.

Skills / Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrates knowledge of basic behavioral management strategies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of client’s rights and when to report abuse.
• Demonstrates ongoing proficiency in crisis management techniques.
• Demonstrates accurate documentation.
• Computer literacy to include competency with Microsoft OS and Word application; knowledge of Excel and databases preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow written and/or verbal requests and instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships and to function in positive ways with a work team.
• Ability to interact appropriately and positively with the public using a customer service orientation.

MENTAL ABILITY
• Ability to understand the organization and operation of the organization and outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to prioritize and organize multiple demands.
• Ability to handle a moderate to high level of stress.
• Ability to respond appropriately and quickly to emergency situations.

PHYSICAL ABILITY:
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., push or pull up to 150 lbs.
• Ability to drive a vehicle.
• Ability to safely negotiate non-adapted walkways, entrances, exits and facilities within the community service area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience and legal requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to behavioral health and one year experience working full-time in the behavioral health field preferred.
• HS/GED required.
• CPR and First Aide Certified (ICHD provides training)
• 21 years of age
• Possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and 39 month driver record that meets insurance requirements
• Legal record void of any felony
• Emergency Safety Response Certification (ICHD provides training-must pass physical and non-physical components of training course)
 All employees must be fingerprinted
 Each staff member shall furnish on a prescribed form a physical examination report including a current TB test

Schedules (20 hrs./wk.) :

Sat. & Sun. 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., plus 4 (flexible) hours M-F during business hours,or
Sat. & Sun. 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., plus 4 (flexible) hours M-F during business hours

Bi-lingual applicants encouraged. Bilingual differential paid for language skills based on demographics of populations served, upon successful completion of skills testing.
